Computed Tomography Protocol Optimisation for Pediatric Head Trauma: Radiation Dose and Image Quality Assessment

نویسندگان

چکیده

Purpose: Children are sometimes examined with Computed Tomography protocols designed for adults, leading to radiation doses higher than necessary. Lack of optimisation could lead image quality what is needed diagnostic purposes associated high patients. Optimising the paediatric head trauma CT imaging will reduce dose. Objective: The study aimed optimise dose and assess a set by evaluating noise, contrast noise ratio, modulation transfer function power spectrum. Methods: Somaton Sensation 64 was used scan an anthropomorphic phantom protocols. ImageJ software analyse from scanner. IMPACTSCAN dosimeter evaluate various organs in head. MATLAB Modulation Transfer Function Noise Power. Results: estimated Dose Index volume (CTDIvol) increased increasing tube current voltage. pitch 0.9 gave lower 0.5 pitch. eye lens received highest (39.2 mGy) whiles thyroid least (13.7 mGy). There increase (62.46) when H60 kernel (8.829) noticed H30 used. Conclusion: results obtained show that (smooth kernel) values ratio (CNR) (sharp kernel). produced (MTF) spectrum (NPS).

Optimization of Radiation Dose in Cranial Computed Tomography among Adults: Assessment of Radiation Dose against Image Quality

Introduction: The rapid use of computed tomography (CT) scan is of great concern, due to increase in patients’ dose. Optimization of CT protocol is a vital issue in dose reduction. This study aimed to optimize radiation dose in cranial CT and assess modifications in image quality under radiation dose reduction. Material and Methods: A poly(me...

Cone beam computed tomography radiation dose and image quality assessments.

Diagnostic radiology has undergone profound changes in the last 30 years. New technologies are available to the dental field, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) as one of the most important. CBCT is a catch-all term for a technology comprising a variety of machines differing in many respects: patient positioning, volume size (FOV), radiation quality, image capturing and reconstruction, image ...

Evaluation of radiation dose and image quality for the Varian cone beam computed tomography system.

PURPOSE To compare the image quality and dosimetry on the Varian cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) system between software Version 1.4.13 and Version 1.4.11 (referred to as "new" and "old" protocols, respectively, in the following text). This study investigated organ absorbed dose, total effective dose, and image quality of the CBCT system for the head-and-neck and pelvic regions. METHODS ...

Estimating the Radiation-Induced Cancer Risks in Pediatric Computed Tomography

Introduction One of the central questions in radiological protection is the magnitude of the risks from low doses of radiation, related to the justification and optimization of the diagnostic medical exposures. Therefore, the aim of this study was to estimate the cancer incidence and mortality risks in children of different ages, sizes, and ethnicities undergoing computed tomography examination...
